The great scholar of the city of Fez who has returned to Allah's mercy, Sheikh Al-Alama Abdul Hamid bin Omar Zouiten, may Allah's mercy be upon him. He shone like a star and held a special place in the hearts of the people of that ancient city.
A prominent religious figure from Qarawiyyin, an expert in Maliki jurisprudence, filled with wisdom. From one knowledge to another, from one era to another, his contributions are forever remembered. May Allah grant him a reward as vast as the sky for his immense contributions to Islam and all its aspects.
Sheikh Al-Alama Abdelhamid Zouiten, beloved of Allah and His Messenger, wisdom, knowledge, and karamat were always with him. Anyone who met him was mesmerized, as every word he uttered was full of wisdom and profound spirituality.
He often visited the tomb of the hidden Qutub saint, Sidi Abul Abbas Al-Tijani. He was also a devoted student of the esteemed Sayyid Sidi Mohammed bin Abdeslam Tahiri Al Husseini and the prominent Sufi Sheikh, Al-Hajj Al-Makki Ibn Kiran, may Allah be pleased with him. As such, this wali of Allah was well-versed in various disciplines. He combined Islamic and foreign culture and philosophy with Sufism in a single framework, becoming a reference for many in genealogy, Quranic interpretation, and dream interpretation.
Despite being tested with pain in his legs, his piety still led him to the Qarawiyyin Mosque. The younger generation of the city, witnessing his determination, marveled at his faith and servitude, leading them to ponder the true meaning of a servant's responsibility to Allah.
On a blessed day, with the verification of two witnesses descended from the Prophet ï·º, the beloved Sheikh Abdul Hameed Zouiten granted his permission through a long written ijazah. He wrote, read, and confirmed it. Not just anyone could receive this ijazah, as he was meticulous and cautious in such significant matters.
The humble servant, seeking his Lord's forgiveness, Abdul Hameed bin Omar Zouiten, may Allah forgive him and his parents, acknowledges that Allah has granted him the blessing of recognizing a precious element of the noble prophetic lineage. Under the banner of the Muhammadan and Ahmadian presence, this noble lineage stands firm in friendship and unity, guided by the descendants of Hussein and Hassan.
I testify with limited ability but clear understanding that I have seen and heard from the beloved Sayyid Amine bin Hamed bin Abdul Salam Al-Hassani what I have not witnessed in anyone else of this blessed time by Allah's grace. Praise be to Allah, who knows the unseen and the seen, the wide and the finite.
This document, written in the blessed city of Fez, at the library of Professor Abdul Hameed bin Omar bin Muhammad Zouiten near the Qarawiyyin Mosque, on Saturday, 20th of Rajab, 1436 Hijri, affirms the words above, written with full awareness of their significance. Allah invites to the abode of peace and guides whom He wills to the straight path.
Abdul Hameed bin Omar bin Muhammad Zouiten, may Allah forgive him and his parents, and grant peace to them. The document was read while its ink was still fresh, to the learned jurist and Imam of the world, Sidi Mustafa bin Hameed bin Muhammad bin Al-Talib Muhammad bin Al-Faqir Sidi Ahmad bin Ahmad Al-Hassani, in the presence of his cousin Ahmed bin Abdul Salam Al-Nasb, and the beloved Sayyid Muhammad Al-Amin bin Hamed bin Abdul Salam bin Sidi Ahmad bin Omar bin Al-Faqir Ahmad Al-Hassani. May Allah protect them all.
This was not a usual occurrence for him, except for this one student named Sayyid Mohamed Amin Al Hasani.
An extraordinary love and profound respect from a Sheikh for Sayyid Mohamed, when he was ill, he prayed, "O Allah, heal me through the honor of Sidi Mohamed, whom I love, and his noble ancestors."
In public, in the historic city of Fez, he often prayed, "O Allah, make me a servant to Sidi Amin in eternal paradise."
In the presence of the most honored shurafa, with evident confidence, Sheikh Abdul Hameed Zouiten once uttered sacred words, "There will be no nobleman (Sharif), except Sidi Amin who is honored."
He was the first to recognize Sayyid Mohamed Amin Al Hasani as naqib before others. In other words, Sheikh Abdul Hameed Zouiten recognized the excellence of Sayyid Mohamed and indirectly pledged his loyalty to him.
May Allah elevate the wali of Allah, Sheikh Abdul Hameed Zouiten, among the prophets, saints, and believers, and make his grave a garden of paradise filled with beauty. Along with our master, Prophet Muhammad ï·º, may Allah shower abundant rewards for our prayers for Sheikh Al-Alama Abdul Hameed Zouiten. Indeed, Allah is the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and peace be upon His chosen servants.
