Sharif Muhammad Amin Al-Hassani : An extraordinary ambassador in the world of parallel diplomacy and contemporary moderate Islam

The invitation extended to the teachers and students of Dar el Mustafa to a radio station in Fez on the eve of the blessed month of Shawwal clearly illustrates the positive development resulting from a diplomacy of knowledge and religion at the international level, realized between two continents, Morocco and Malaysia.

As mentioned in an article by Hiba Press Morocco on April 9, 2024:

“Sharif Muhammad Amin Al-Hassani has emerged as an extraordinary ambassador in the world of parallel diplomacy and contemporary moderate Islam, embodying Morocco's unique model in promoting peace among civilizations and religions under the noble vision and righteous policies of the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty the King of Morocco.”

Parallel diplomacy occurs when a country or an individual uses informal or non-official means, alongside existing official channels, to communicate or negotiate with another country to achieve beneficial and positive outcomes for the nations involved, whether in terms of economy, social matters, education, knowledge, and religion, without risking open conflict with other parties.

Morocco has shown openness, understanding, respect, acceptance of the presence of Muslims from other countries, and practices Islam in a moderate and tolerant environment while appreciating religious diversity.

This practice has long been established in Malaysia, which also provides an environment where citizens are free to worship and practice their respective religions without pressure or discrimination.

In this modern era, moderate Islam offers a balanced and inclusive approach to religious understanding while promoting social harmony and collective well-being. In a challenging and tense atmosphere, moderate Islam serves as a unifier in fostering good relations between communities of different beliefs, and it helps prevent radicalization and conflict.

This is the approach being introduced and promoted by Sharif Moulay Mohamed Amin. It aligns with the teachings of Islam that encourage its followers to lead a balanced and moderate life (wasatiyyah). The Prophet Muhammad ï·º emphasized the importance of avoiding extremism and always taking the middle path in various aspects of life, including religion, social matters, and politics. The emphasis on noble values such as tolerance, justice, and compassion towards fellow human beings, as frequently advocated by the Prophet ï·º, is in line with the principles of modern moderate Islam.

Congratulations to the esteemed Sharif Mohamed Amin for becoming a bridge connecting knowledge and religion through diplomacy, a practice long exemplified by the eminent figure of the world, Prophet Muhammad ï·º.

For the propagation of da’wah and the stability of his governance, the Prophet ï·º played a significant role as a diplomat, displaying numerous examples for the guidance of Muslims in building relationships between various races, religions, and nations.

Peace and blessings be upon him, his entire family, and his companions.
